CP Charlemagne “Charlie” P. Chua

Congratulations Charter President Felimon “Mhon” P. Brazas, Jr. for leading the Rotary Club of San Pedro Magic in its inaugural year!

Being part of the charter team is not easy.  You have to meet the requirements and obligations of a Rotary club in RI District 3820, without a council of past presidents to guide you.  You have to ensure club growth over the succeeding years.  You set the tone and create traditions of the club that will last decades. You have to do many things, not least of which is to live up to the legacy of the club’s namesake, PP Edison “Magic” Ong, a highly esteemed Rotarian and friend.

However, I am sure the Rotary Club of San Pedro Magic is up to the challenge. For one, it is led by CP Mhon Brazas.  Of the things I know about CP Mhon, I admire that he does not back down from a challenge.  In fact, I think he relishes in it.  He has already faced the first challenge in accepting the role of Charter President.  That, in itself, shows his courage and determination to make RC San Pedro Magic a great club.  I believe the rest of the charter team, all able veterans and eager rookies in Rotary and Rotaract, share the same sentiments, too.

The 28 charter members of the club will be part of its history forever.  (Yes, there is a forever.)  But to secure that forever, the charter members must first focus on being a club.  In Rotary, a club is a group of friends who enjoy being together as much as they enjoy serving.  Rotarians of San Pedro Magic must first enjoy each other, enjoy being a club, in order to have a forever in Rotary.

To share with you two pieces of advice my club took to heart when we were just starting out: (1) put the club first, and (2) enjoy Rotary.

Rotary is enjoyable. Doing good work while surrounded by friends is what makes us stay in Rotary.  It is what makes a club last. All the other things are just icing on the cake.

To the charter members of RC San Pedro Magic, rest assured that many people want you to succeed.  Should you need help, I am certain your DGSRs PP Rigor “Reggie” Ponce of RC Sta. Cruz and PP Erwin Serrano of RC San Pedro South New Generations will be among the first to lend you a hand.  My club, your sister club in RI District 3810, RC Manila Magic, will also be here to support you.  You need only ask.

Again, congratulations to CP Mhon Brazas, PE Zen Zamora, and the rest of the Rotary Club of San Pedro Magic.  Your first step into forever has finally come.

Welcome to Rotary.
